My name is Leigh McMichael, and Greg McMichael is my husband of 39 years. Travis McMichael is my 36-year-old son and the father to my blessed and very loved five-year-old grandson. I am deeply proud of my husband and son and my love for each is unconditional. I make no apologies for my love and support of these two honorable men. Before I explain the reasons for developing this website and sharing my family’s story, I would like to make the following statements. |
1. The death of Ahmaud Arbery was a tragedy of epic proportions.
Contrary to the opinions of some, my family cannot imagine the pain
and hurt heaped upon Ahmaud’s family, including his mother, father,
siblings, friends, and even casual acquaintances. I am resigned to
the fact that there’s nothing anyone in the McMichael family can say
or do to ease their hurt, but nonetheless, I offer my deepest
sympathies.
2. This website and content are not offered with the purpose of
slandering or blaming Ahmaud, his family, friends, or anyone else.
Nor is it designed to criticize law enforcement, government
officials, prosecutors, courts, or anyone else. It is designed and
offered to share the story of Travis and Greg, facts and evidence
that have been withheld or marginalized. It is also offered to plead
for the support of those who recognize that they or someone they
love could have easily been in Travis and Greg’s place if the events
in the weeks and months leading up to February 23, 2020, had taken
place in their neighborhood.
3. If you happened to stumble upon this website with the unwavering
and staunch belief that Greg and Travis are racist men, who set out
to murder Ahmaud and then joyfully reveled in his death, please
close out this web page and move on. Until now, no one in my family
has spoken publicly about this tragedy. My personal experience since
this story went viral tells me that it would be futile to spend time
and energy trying to persuade those with a closed mindset that the
public narrative driven by the mainstream media is at a minimum
incomplete and at most a downright fabrication. This media-driven
narrative of the “innocent jogger” is the driving force behind
the reason my husband and son are sentenced to die in a Georgia
prison.
4. However, if you are here with a willingness to keep an open mind
and consider that there is an untold story, including facts about
Travis and Greg that support that they are kind, decent and honest
men who were simply trying to help our neighborhood, whose residents
openly shared on social media that Satilla Shores and neighboring
Royal Oaks were under siege and crime laden. Many in the
neighborhood broadcast that the neighborhood was unsafe for children
and the elderly that have lived in Satilla Shores for decades. I’ll
also provide any open-minded visitor to this site with information
and evidence about Ahmaud’s tumultuous past which culminated in his
death on February 23, 2020.
5. Since Greg released the now infamous cell phone video on May 5,
2020, that Roddy Bryan recorded, my family, lifelong friends,
neighbors, and even casual acquaintances have been harassed,
intimidated and at times threatened by people who seek to suppress
the truth about the documented events that led up to Ahmaud’s death.
These people remain anonymous while flooding the internet message
boards and social media platforms with pure hate towards anyone who
dares to speak on my family’s behalf. Because of the expected
harassment that the content of this website will bring, I intend to
use only the first and last initials of any person named on this
website and to redact documents to do my best to assure that family,
friends, neighbors and others are not lambasted for information they
can’t control. Greg, Travis, Roddy and Ahmaud will be identified by
name. Law-enforcement personnel are public officials and they will
be fully identified where possible.
6. Lastly, I am going to plead for your help if you read or see
something that helps you understand the dilemma my family is in and
understand this could happen to anyone. My family has been limited
in our ability to raise funds to defend Greg and Travis. The costs
are staggering, and my family presently owes in excess of $60,000
for unpaid expenses from the state trial. The cost to appeal this
case for Greg and Travis could easily exceed $250,000, perhaps more.
Until now, every attempt to raise money for the defense of Greg and
Travis has been stymied by the liberal media and traditional
fund-raising websites. Recently, we discovered a Christian-based
fundraising website that has graciously allowed us to begin this
massive undertaking. If you’re able and willing, I ask that you
click the

donation. Please share with your family and friends.

In the following weeks, I’ll be updating this website with facts and other information, including photos, videos and other evidence that has been marginalized at best and suppressed at worse by global media outlets, government prosecutors and groups and organizations with agendas that have nothing to do with this case.
Until then, I ask that you please consider donating to the Greg and Travis McMichael Defense Fund found at
